How are your processed eggs healthier than local farm fresh eggs?

As you see below, plant-based eggs do contain more sodium than a classic egg but they have 0 cholesterol vs almost 200 mg in a real egg. Cholesterol is broken into two categories LDL and HDL. HDL being a healthy cholesterol that your body produces naturally. LDL is the cholesterol that accumulates in the walls of your blood vessels – raising your chances of health problems. LDL Cholesterol (the bad one) is only found in animal products. High cholesterol can cause: stroke, heart attack, angina (chest pain), high blood pressure, kidney disease, fatty liver disease and much more. Sodium is a mineral your body needs to function. Health officials recommend 1,500 to 2,000 mg per day.

If the Whole Food Plant-based diet is the healthiest diet, why do we need animal alternative foods?

We do not NEED animal alternative foods; however, all of our situations are different. Some cut animal products out for health, some for animals and others for the environment. Of course, eating a whole food plant-based diet is what we should all be striving for, incorporating a few animal alternatives in your diet rather than the real thing is the healthier alternative. If it helps cut down your family's animal product intake, that’s great. If you need something quick to whip up for the kids, animal alternatives are useful. You’re transitioning from an Omnivore to a Vegan, these products are handy! Moderation is key and we should try to get a wide color palette of fruits and vegetables every day as well as whole grains and simply sprinkle some of our favorite animal alternative foods lightly on top.
